Arist’s statement: Beautiful poppy flowers dominate the Palestinian landscape in the spring. Their vivid color inspires us and gives us hope. The Israeli occupiers systematically destroy our land and our trees in an attempt to uproot our hopes and squelch our dreams. Nevertheless, spring will come, and the poppies will bloom again, and so too will our dreams.

Artist’s statement: Jesus, according to the Quran, is believed to be a prophet sent by God. His Palestinian mother, Virgin Mary, is believed to have delivered Jesus in Bethlehem; making him a Palestinian also. In this painting, the Virgin Mary is shown wearing a traditional dress from Bethlehem and Jesus’ disciples are dressed in the traditional Palestinian “qumbaz”.
